About our union
We are the United Steelworkers Local 1088-04, the University of Pittsburgh faculty union.
We were certified by the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board in October 2021, and we ratified our first contract in May 2024. We represent full-time and part-time faculty at all schools and campuses of the University of Pittsburgh, excluding faculty in the School of Medicine, department chairs and other faculty in certain managerial positions, and part-time faculty in their first term working at Pitt.

We are Unit 04 of USW Local 1088, which includes faculty at Pitt as well as part-time faculty at Robert Morris University and Point Park University. The President of Local 1088 is Rich Schiavoni ([email protected]).
