You are not a member of the Pitt Faculty Union yet
Dear Colleague,
According to our records, you are not a member of the USW Union of Pitt Faculty yet. You are a member of the bargaining unit. This means that the contract we are currently negotiating will apply to you, whether or not you sign a membership card. However, you will not be able to vote on this contract or participate in our Union unless you sign a membership card.
Union members commit to paying dues (1.5% of gross pay from Pitt) once we ratify a contract. This means that whatever raise we are able to negotiate will go into effect at the same time we will start paying dues. Union membership gives you decision-making power in our Union and gives us power at the bargaining table to push for improvements in pay and job security and protect the things we love about our jobs.
We understand that this is a new process for most faculty and you will likely have questions. Please feel free to stop by our membership card table this week from 12-2 PM this Thursday (11/9) or Friday (11/10) in the first floor lobby area of the Cathedral of Learning. We will be happy to answer your questions and help you get signed up if you decide to do so.
Reply to this email to let us know if you think that you have already signed a membership card or you would like to meet with someone at another time. You can also request to sign a digital membership card which will be emailed to you via DocuSign.
In Solidarity,
Your Communication and Action Team (CAT)
