COMMUNICATION & ACTION TEAM (CAT) UPDATE
May 8, 2023
Takeaways:
Dear colleagues,
Happy end of the spring 2023 semester! We hope that the semester wrapped up well for you. We know that for some of you the summer looks very different from the fall/spring semesters and you will rarely be on campus, for others, it’s business as usual.
We will continue collecting membership cards over the summer and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to learn more about membership and sign a card if you like.
We will have a table at the Staff and Faculty Appreciation Picnic from 12-2 PM on May 11 on Schenley Dr. If you’ll be at the picnic, feel free to drop by, say hi, and sign a card if you haven’t done so yet.
Can’t make it to Oakland? No problem. You can complete this form to request a conversation and let us know where and when is the best time to meet. We are happy to make house calls if that is easiest for you.
Remember, membership in our union gives you a voice. You have to be a member to vote on our contract, elect union leadership, and attend membership meetings. You are likely a member of the bargaining unit and eligible to become a member of our union, even if you didn’t teach last semester. You may have signed an authorization card several years ago. This is different from the membership cards we are collecting now. If you haven’t signed a card recently, you are not a member of our union yet. Let us know if you have any questions about your eligibility or membership status ([email protected]).
Do you have a little bit of extra capacity this summer? Join our team and help us build power!
We want to build a strong union with members from diverse disciplines, ranks, and backgrounds. We hope that you will join us!
In Solidarity,
Your Communication and Action Team (CAT)
